Saturday Baking and Appreciating Life…’Tis the Season for Sweet Insight
19 days ’til Christmas. How did THAT happen?
We ask that question every year, don’t we?
The hub-bub is underway: decorating, shopping, wrapping, card-writing, card-receiving, baking….
Yes, it’s baking time…. that one time of year I, a T2 Diabetic, actually spend time with copious amounts of sugar. Don’t get me wrong ~ I would all year, except I’d invariably overdose on sugar and be as big as a house. When your body doesn’t process insulin properly, that’s what happens. Not a good thing.
A few weeks ago, Baby Sister sent out an invite for her Holiday Cookie Exchange. At first, I told her I’d probably not be able to attend, because Sundays are sacred when it comes to getting ready for the school week ahead: lesson plans need planning, grades need grading, lunches need prepping.
But then I decided a few days ago… It Can All Wait.
You see, I’ve learned (even more) since her diagnosis two months ago, that life is too short to say, “Another time.” {side note: The song, Cats in the Cradle just popped into my head as I was typing.}
School will wait. It’s time to celebrate life and love, with lots of laughter. And plenty of sugar. 😉
I’m also a bit of an introvert, as I shared here. Hanging with all those people becomes a bit overwhelming for me. But that’s another story for another time….
Her reply when I confirmed: Yay! Yay! Yay!
Yep, a good decision, indeed.
Bring on the Holiday Cookie Exchange! Tomorrow afternoon, I’ll drive the hour+ to hang out with sisters, lady friends, and lots of sugary goodies. Hopefully, there will be coffee.
Baby Sister, are you listening? Coffee. Please. Thank you.
This morning I shopped and this afternoon I perused Pinterest for some variations on brownie bites. Did I mention I LOVE chocolate? Oh, and brownies. Then there’s red velvet. And peanut butter. You get the idea…..
Thought I’d share a few beautiful pictures (yes, food porn! 😉 ) and their links, before I don my apron, fire up the oven, and have a cup of java. Lots more foodie inspiration on my board, if you love to cook and eat as much as I do. Enjoy!
I explored each site before adding them to my board, to see what sorts of things these ladies create. If you love good food and creativity, they’re worth a click!
You’re welcome.
Happy Saturday (or Sunday for a few readers… you know who you are!)
😉

Those look delicious! Enjoy the cookie exchange. You’re right–life is too short to let the sweet things pass us by. 🙂

Your pictures are just too mouthwateringly good to look at for long! I also adore baking, and would spend most of my life in the kitchen if it wasn’t for the fact that my husband and I would end up looking like barrels! I hope you enjoy your Holiday Cookie Exchange – much too good a day to forego. As you say, at this time of year you heve to get your priorities right.
