Hey, there!

I started this beautiful gem back in 2018, maybe ‘19(?) - with just a few pages completed… ~ before life took a HUGE left turn. Before the pandemic. Before working from home for an entire school year. Before deciding to retire early from teaching. Before giving away or selling many of our/my belongings. Before moving back to the coast, near my family. Before…. my mom’s unexpected death. She (the journal, not my mom) was packed safely alongside my other WIP journals when we moved last fall…. and has been waiting patiently for me, like a longtime dear friend, to circle back around, pull up a chair… and talk. Or, waiting patiently like my mom often did, for me to circle back around, pull up a chair… and talk. When I ran across these photos yesterday, I was reminded that she is there, quietly waiting. She is ready. Ready to provide space for me to explore. To think. To grieve. To say. And… to move forward. Much the way my mom did… no matter how long we were estranged each time. The question is… am I ready? And so she waits. Quietly. Patiently. My journal, propped on a shelf. My mom, in spirit. I think it may be time…. And we thought, “Who cares?!” 🙄🤣 Sooo… Is this THAT?!? 🙄 Nope! It’s a shout-out 📢 to support our local businesses (safely, please) when you’re in @portcanaveral & @spacecoastflorida Florida 🛳🌴👍 ~ a lovely, vibrant, fun destination & our home. Today we headed 5 minutes over to the port and enjoyed lunch on the upstairs deck at @fishlipswaterfront ~ a family-friendly restaurant surrounded by ships … 3 in port today @disneycruiseline @royalcaribbean and @carnival … 😎 Cleaning efforts were 💯 on point with staff masked & ongoing disinfecting everywhere. Thanks, guys! Much appreciated. #reassured Ships are starting to sail again with strict protocols in place… If you’re vaccinated, come visit Florida! 😷👍😎🌴 As for us, I didn’t make it past the calamari appetizer ➡️ I was stuffed! Soooo…. those delicious Korean Nachos are in the fridge ~ lunch tomorrow! 😬 @kylew001 recommends the mahi tacos & we both give boat drinks🍹our 👍. Are you traveling yet? The recent outbreaks are making things tricky, but our #spacecoast #brevardcountyfl businesses are working hard to keep customers safe & employees working. Heard yesterday that a few local restaurants recently closed for deep cleaning due to employee COVID positive cases… working hard, being {very} cautious. We mentioned #brixproject last weekend (great brunch!) and rode past the #kennedyspacecenter on our Sunday ride… both open & busy! Happy Birthday, Gran. Today I was away from soci Happy Birthday, Gran. Today I was away from socials to spend a very special day with the youngest and eldest women in our family. My niece accompanied me to the city to visit her great-grandmother, a woman whose impact on my life led to many of the values I hold most dear. We celebrated her 97th trip around the sun and though her memory is no longer her companion, for a brief afternoon she enjoyed her favorites - pizza & sweet tea - along with the messiness of melting cupcakes on a warm Florida day (only outside visits allowed again), and time with family. My heart is full . And…. I’m certain my mom was there in spirit, watching her own mom feel the love of family. #familytime #robinlkstudios #rlkstudios2021

Hey, there!

I’m Robin, a flip-flop wearing, coffee-drinking, question-asking “educator, repurposed” – after retiring early from public Education in 2021. I still teach, but now topics I choose, on schedules I create, to serve the people I wish to serve. Teaching is in my blood, but turns out, so is small business ownership.

 

You see, I’m also the Founder, Facilitator, Chief Storyteller & Mess Maker of RobinLK Studios, a service-disabled woman veteran-owned business est. 2015 to support personal & professional goals through inspiration, information, and empowerment.
